Spokane Dental Checkup
If it has been awhile since your last dental checkup, or perhaps you are new to the area and are looking for a new dentist, let us take this opportunity to tell you a bit about our Spokane office. We are accepting new patients and invite you to make an initial appointment with one of our friendly staff members for a dental checkup, cleaning and exam. Feel free to ask any questions you may have at this time. During your initial appointment set up call this would be a great time to discuss any questions you may have about appointment length or cost of service.
We’ll ask that you arrive a few minutes early so you will have an opportunity to fill out our new patient questionnaire and medical history form. Information on any medication you are currently taking as well as any illnesses or surgeries you may have had is very important for us to know. This may have an impact on your dental treatment, including any medications the dentist may need to prescribe for you if your dental checkup indicates you have an issue that warrants further treatment.
We recommend preparing for your initial dental checkup appointment in our Spokane office by bringing along a list of current medications. Oftentimes we encounter patients who have avoided going to the dentist due to nervousness. We find that being fully prepared often allows our patients a greater sense of control, helping to alleviate nervousness.
Don’t forget your dental insurance card if you have coverage that includes dental checkups! We will take a copy of your card and keep it on file here in our Spokane dentist office so we will have it on hand for future use.
During your dental checkup X-rays may be taken which will allow us to give you a more complete exam and a full report of the condition of your teeth and mouth. We will typically want to do a full mouth series consisting of four bitewings and 14 periapical films which will show the tips of roots of your teeth and the supporting bone area. These X-rays are important diagnostic tools for the dentist.
Your dental checkup will also involve checking your teeth and gums for signs of decay. The dentist will be checking for cavities and if any are found will make recommendations for filling at a future appointment. We will also be checking for signs of gum disease by doing periodontal probing, checking the foundations of the teeth. The hygienist may suggest better brushing or flossing methods if signs of gum disease are present, or may prescribe an antibacterial rinse. Tartar, or calcium deposits can cause gum inflammation and we will see that this is cleaned thoroughly.
We encourage you to contact our Spokane dentist office to schedule your dental checkup today. We are committed to providing you with excellent oral health services.
